Supreme Court Re-Affirms Individual's Second Amendment Right

A long time coming. The Supreme Court ruled today that individuals do indeed have the right to own guns for personal uses and struck down a 32 year old law in Washington D.C. barring gun ownership by individuals. Of course, like most Supreme Court cases of late, it was a 5-4 ruling.

This smacks the liberal elitists right in the mouth. American's can continue to "cling to their guns," as the soon to be defeated presidential candidate has recently stated.

The ruling was the correct one and one that had many nervous. This Supreme Court does seem to legislate from the bench so for it to strike down the longstanding D.C. law, the evidence must have been overwhelming.

Tony Fratto, White House spokesman said the court adopted the gun rights position advocated by the Bush administration and went on to say, "We're pleased that the Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment protects the right of Americans to keep and bear arms."

John McCain weighed in on the Supreme Court ruling and took the opportunity to take a jab at liberal Barack Obama for his previous gun comments. McCain said, "Unlike the elitist view that believes Americans cling to guns out of bitterness, today's ruling recognizes that gun ownership is a fundamental right -- sacred, just as the right to free speech and assembly," McCain said.

This is the first time the Supreme Court has struck down a gun control law. Hopefully, this will not be the last.
